I am currently writing this from 10 000 feet up in the air (or however high you are on a plane cruising). It feels like the perfect place to write my July travel blogger update, as I am in a much better space (literally and figuratively) than when I wrote the June one! As you may remember, June was incredibly busy, to the point of being exhausting, and I really needed a month that was a little slower. Both travel and work-wise.
July hasn’t been that much quieter when it comes to work, but I had fewer trips planned and was able to get everything done according to plan (I even had time to procrastinate a little bit – my greatest vice).

When the month started I was still in Boston (or better yet, Malden, MA), and I spent a whole week there exploring Massachusetts with Allie, convincing her to start a blog, day drinking and celebrating 4th of July. The latter was great fun, considering that the only time I’d ever spent the 4th in the US before was when I worked in Disney World. To be honest, I spent all day working and don’t even remember any celebrations. But then the fireworks in Disney are incredible every night, so I may just not have noticed them.
Then, I spent a week back at my dearly missed apartment, before heading home to the fjords for almost 2. I was house- and pet sitting, and so mid-July you would have found me living in a beautiful farmhouse all by myself, taking care of 8 sheep, 5 chickens, a rooster, a baby chick, a rabbit and 2 cats. Getting my skills and recommendations sorted for when I start house sitting at some point, haha!
After 2 weeks by the fjords, I spent a super short weekend in Bergen, before heading off on another adventure to the US. As mentioned, I am currently on the plane, and for the next 2 weeks I’ll be crossing off some major bucket-list US cities: New Orleans, Nashville and Chicago! I can’t wait to share all about it in the August recap, but make sure to follow along on Instagram stories until then.
Blogging wise, I’ve had a few fun posts published this past month, and I am super excited to continue posting with the eagerness I have been. Posts from my trips to Sweden, Italy and the US earlier in the summer started to take shape, and I have loved sharing them with you guys!
In case you missed it, I published a roundup post of my favourite castles in Italy, that were all discovered in the Trentino region (one has a vineyard, and the other had a Count that wanted to marry me off to his son)!
I also published my own little guide to Varberg, Sweden! This was one of the charming towns I got to visit on my recent trip to the “country next door”, and I completely fell in love with it. Make sure to give it a read and bookmark it for your next travel planning night!
What’s quite exciting (and odd) is that I discovered Prime Day this year! I didn’t even know it was a thing, but when I found out about it I put together a blog post of the best Prime Day Deals for travellers! It was quite popular, and I hope many wanderlusters found some new gadgets on sale. I am definitely considering doing the same for Prime Day 2020!

After a few days spent at home, I felt it was time to publish a blog post I had been considering for a while. Growing up by the fjords leads to quite a few stupid questions from tourists and travellers (such as “when do you turn off the waterfalls” and “do you drain the fjord in the winter”). So, my post on ridiculous questions tourists have asked went live!
This lead to a bit of a snowball effect, and shortly after the article was published, a local online newspaper called! They wanted to feature a Norwegian translation of the post, and interview me about my job as a full-time travel blogger. Once that was live, another newspaper called and wanted to feature me too! All in Norwegian of course, but I have still included it on my Press & Portfolio page.
Then, I published a post from my trip to Salem, MA, which is just a short drive from Boston! The post was all about the different Salem ghost tours and witch tours you can choose from when you go, which I felt was quite on-trend with “Witch City”.
I updated an older blog post, and republished it once it was done. My overview of Disney World Books contains all the books you need to help plan and make sure your trip to Disney World is just perfect.
In spite of being featured in 2 local newspapers this month, I still got so many questions about my job and how I make money from people I met back at home. This is incredibly frustrating, but instead of getting annoyed I wrote a blog post detailing exactly how bloggers get paid. Hopefully it will lead to less questions in the future.
And finally, I published a blog post I also wrote 10’000 feet in the air; my SAS Business Class Review! I wrote it as I was flying SAS Business, so it couldn’t be more up to date, haha.
As you can tell, lot’s of exciting things have happened in this past month, and I love getting to share them with you guys through these monthly recaps! Here you’ll get to hear my thoughts, ramblings and ideas ahead, so if you’re curious about my life (i.e. you’re following me personally, and not just Fjords and Beaches for travel advice), make sure to keep checking back for these recaps!
And, as always, if you have any questions about my life (or about the life of a blogger generally speaking) feel free to leave them in the comments! That way I know that I’m sharing what you’re interested in, and answering the questions you have!
Side note; in case you’re wondering, I’ve become obsessed with the Chicks in the Office podcast this past month (thanks to Allie from Boston), and if you haven’t heard it before, you should! It is absolutely hilarious, and it’s now officially the main way I get my celebrity fix.
