Another month has gone by, so here is another monthly update from yours truly. It is a little later than usual, and for that, I apologise. In case you have missed my previous monthly updates, and you want to go back to the start to have a read, I’ve linked them all below!
I can’t believe it’s October already, but I’m not going to spend too long focusing on that. Because this post is all about September! As a certified “autumn girl”, I love September and everything it brings with it. The colours, the winds, the rain and the temperature. Oh, and the pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks.

Travels in September
As you know from my earlier recaps, the summer of 2019 was Busy with a capital B. So I was excited to get to spend some time in Bergen and by the fjords in September, with the exception of one trip. Once again I was off to Sweden with Visit Sweden!
I’ve already been to Sweden several times, mainly because my grandfather lived in Skåne and my family would visit him every summer. But, this year I have gotten to see more of the beautiful “country next door”, and some of you may remember my Gothenburg restaurant guide or my guide to beautiful Varberg. This time around, I travelled to Småland, and it was a trip I was really excited about!
We flew into Gothenburg and had a car from there. Then, we spent 4-5 days driving through Småland, experiencing everything the area has to offer; from seal safaris to having breakfast outside at 7am!
Oh, and visiting Downton Abbey-like country resorts that made me put on my best dress, of course.
Blog posts in September
With September being a quieter month travel-wise, it meant I had more time to publish some blog post I’d been working on for a while. Naturally, I have published two from my latest Sweden trip already:
- 13 Fun and unique things to do in Småland, Sweden
- Love This Hotel: Slottsholmen, Sweden (I nicknamed it “the ABBA hotel”)
Additionally, I published two more post from my epic trip to Canada in August (you may remember I spent a week exploring Winnipeg and Manitoba. Don’t miss these if you are planning a trip to the province (or if you are visiting anywhere else in Canada and have never been before):
- My favourite day trips from Winnipeg, Manitoba
- 5 Things to know when visiting Canada for the first time
Additionally, I got some proper USA coverage up as well, and my friend Allie wrote a guest post that’s very close to her heart. If you are heading to Boston or Massachusetts, don’t miss Allie’s guide to visiting Longfellow House (Washington’s Headquarters).
Since I travelled around the US for quite a while this past summer, I had a few notes on my mind that I just had to get out. This resulted in the (slightly controversial) post 12 things that shock me about US culture. If you are not from the US, you might agree with me on a few of those. If you are American, however, please have a read and let me know your thoughts! Some of the things truly baffle me.
I wasn’t done yet, and you know I am always working on creating the absolute best Norway content for you guys at all times. My Norway itineraries have gotten some great feedback, and I LOVE that I can be of help to you when planning your trips to my beautiful home country. So, here are my latest Norway posts from the past month;
- Autumn in Norway; where to go, what to do and where to stay
- How to be a tourist in Norway
- 7 Great places to stop on a road trip in Norway
And last, but not least, I published a post relating to my personal experience of finding interior inspiration and home decor ideas when I’m travelling. I am always looking for fun items to bring home, or just unique styles of decorating when I travel and thought I would write a little guide to help you make the most of your trips too. This post is particularly relevant if you are a homeowner; A Guide to finding interior decorating styles when travelling.
As you can tell, less travel means more activity here on Fjords and Beaches, and I am so here for it!

Updated itineraries
Finally, a public service announcement for anyone planning, or considering, a trip to Norway in the future. I have added new Norway itineraries to my collection, so make sure you go check them out and see if any will be helpful in planning your trip! As I have said before, they are super easy to follow, and you can either follow them religiously or simply use them as a starting-off point for planning your adventures in Norway!
As always, if you are travelling to Norway for a different amount of days (or to different cities) than outlined in my itineraries, please don’t hesitate to reach out and I’ll see if I can make one for your plans (I’m sure someone else will benefit after you as well).
There you have my September update, and I hope you have enjoyed reading it! If there is anything at all you miss reading about in my monthly updates, leave a comment below. This also goes for any questions you may have about what I do 🙂
