During my travels around Wales, I have been lucky enough to stay in some amazing hotels. One of them was the Corran Resort and Spa, located not too far from where I used to live when I was an exchange student. This hotel is perfect for a getaway in the Welsh countryside, and I loved the serenity and peacefulness of it.
An old working farm from the 1700s in the ‘middle of nowhere’ is the backdrop for the Corran, and I was incredibly excited as I drove down the narrow country lane to the hotel, passing cows and marshlands along the way.

Staying at the Corran, Wales
Upon arrival, I was greeted with a glass of champagne, and I can only say that this is countryside living done right. While waiting for my room (I had arrived early in my excitement), I walked around the property gushing over all the photo ops I was planning on revisiting once I had my camera gear sorted.
My room absolutely blew me away, with old brick walls, floors that creaked and a proper Lady Mary-style window where I could sit and read my book and pretend that it was the 1800s. The lounge area also had a working fireplace, and I found myself almost cursing at the beautiful warm weather. This is definitely somewhere I’d like to visit in winter, just for the fireplace.
In general, the room was stunning, and the mix of the historic building and its modern features (complete Sky entertainment system and the world’s softest bedding) was ideal. The bathroom floor was insane, and I spent quite a few Instagram stories gushing over it (you may still find it all in my ‘Wales’ highlight on Instagram!).

The spa and restaurant at the Corran
After going for a nice walk in the nearby area, having a nice glass of wine out on the patio and booking in a spa appointment for the next day, it was time for dinner. I was treated to a 3-course meal in their restaurant, which somehow turned into 5 courses thanks to their ‘pre-starter’ and ‘pre-dessert’ courses.
The dessert was the absolute highlight (and the wine, of course). I had The Chocolate Pot which is a flower pot made out of dark chocolate, filled with blackberry mousse and brownie crumbles (so it looked like an actual flower pot!), accompanied by a white chocolate leaf, a chocolate truffle and vanilla ice cream. During dinner, I was seated by the open patio doors and could feel the fresh, country air breezing through the restaurant.
I slept like a princess in my stunning suite and woke up feeling refreshed and ready for a new day. But before I was due to head out, I had to sneak in a visit to the spa. I treated myself to a back, shoulder and neck massage, and it was absolute heaven. So relaxing, and just what I needed (not that my days were very stressful, but who can turn down a massage?).
What I loved most about staying at the Corran was the serenity of it all. Being in the countryside without a care in the world is definitely something worth experiencing, and I think this is the perfect place for a getaway.
