I was invited to stay at the Sopot Marriott Resort & Spa, and I couldn’t have been more excited. After a busy summer guiding for Adventures by Disney (as I always do), this trip to the Baltic coast was meant to be a relaxing getaway — and the perfect chance to test out some of Sopot’s best hotels and spas with my friend Ida.

We planned five days of sunshine, good food, and plenty of time to unwind, and the Marriott immediately felt like the ideal place to do just that.

The Sopot Marriott is a beachfront resort located just a short walk from Sopot’s famous pier and lively town center. With a rooftop pool overlooking the Baltic Sea, an on-site restaurant (Mera Restaurant) and bar, a luxurious spa, and modern, Nordic-inspired rooms, it’s one of the city’s most popular stays for both couples and families.

I had high expectations going in, and I was curious to see if the hotel lived up to its reputation.

Arrival & Location

Arriving at the Sopot Marriott felt instantly exciting. My friend Ida and I have travelled together many times, and we were both impressed with how welcoming and genuinely kind the reception staff were. It set the tone for a very relaxed two days by the sea.

The location is right on the water, a little outside Sopot’s city center. It’s about a 10-minute walk along the promenade into town, which we found to be the perfect evening stroll.

In fact, we discovered a little beach bar on the way where we would stop for a glass of wine (and a competitive round of UNO) before continuing back to the hotel.

Rooms & Comfort

We stayed in a superior room with a small balcony and ocean views, which immediately felt like such a treat. The bed was super comfortable — the hotel made it into a twin for us, and we both slept incredibly well during our stay. The bathroom was spacious, with a separate room for the toilet, which we appreciated.

The highlight, though, was the balcony. We enjoyed evening drinks out there, soaking in the views of the Baltic Sea.

The only thing missing was a little table to set our glasses on, but otherwise, the setup was perfect. The décor also stood out to me: sleek and Nordic in style, which gave the room a modern yet calming feel.

Dining

Breakfast was one of my favourite parts of our stay. The buffet offered plenty of choice, but the added option to order dishes like Eggs Benedict (Ida’s favourite) and omelettes made-to-order elevated it further. I also loved the waffle station — it felt like such a small luxury to make my own waffles in the morning.

The coffee was excellent too; one morning I sat outside in the sun for over an hour with just my coffee, which felt like such a peaceful way to start the day.

We also tried snacks and drinks from the bar, both delivered to our room and enjoyed downstairs in the lounge. The cocktails were fun — “Dill With It” was our favourite, both for the flavor and the name — and the nachos with blue cheese dip became our go-to snack.

The hotel’s Mera Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, which is great if you’re spending the day by the pool or spa, but town is just a short walk away if you want more variety.

Pool, Wellness & Spa

On our first day, we spent a few hours at the rooftop pool (with Baltic Sea views), which was such a highlight. The views were amazing, and it was the perfect place to relax in the sun.

Unfortunately, the rooftop bar was closed due to weather, even though it seemed perfectly fine to us — but we solved that by bringing wine up from the Fox Lounge (a great solve, if I do say so myself).

Side note: I have covered the top 5 must-visit spas in the area here!

A bright blue Marriott towel and a tablet with colorful stickers rest on a lounge chair beside an infinity pool overlooking the sea under a sunny, partly cloudy sky.

We also booked a 60-minute Mera Relax massage at the spa, and it was wonderful. Ida even said it was the best massage she’s ever had!

My personal recommendation, even if you don’t end up staying at the hotel, is to book a treatment at the Mera Spa. It was truly so relaxing, and our massage therapists somehow knew the perfect pressure for each of us – without even asking!

The spa treatment area had a serene, Nordic feel, while the indoor pool area felt a little busier and more family-friendly. There’s also a sauna and steam room, adding to the wellness options available.

Final Verdict

I would definitely stay at the Sopot Marriott again. It’s a hotel that really offers something for everyone: families will love the indoor pools and playroom, while couples will enjoy the spa and rooftop pool.

With its beachfront location, comfortable rooms, and excellent dining, it’s a great choice for a seaside escape in Sopot.

All in all, my stay at the Sopot Marriott Resort & Spa was exactly the kind of getaway I was hoping for — relaxing, fun, and just the right mix of luxury and comfort.

From the rooftop pool to the spa, the delicious breakfasts to the evening walks along the beach, everything came together to create a stay that felt special without ever being stuffy.

Whether you’re visiting Sopot for a romantic escape, a family trip, or just a couple of days by the sea with a good friend (and a competitive round or two of UNO), I can wholeheartedly recommend the Marriott as a wonderful base. I know I’ll be back.
