Once you have decided to visit, it’s time to figure out where to stay in Mauritius. Luckily, this post has you covered. I asked a bunch of travel bloggers (who have all been to Mauritius and stayed in these hotels) what they would recommend, and I’ve now got a great selection of the best resorts in Mauritius for you to browse before your trip. Whether you are looking for cheap hotels in Mauritius, all-inclusive resorts, or something in the middle, you’ll find your pick in this list of hotels in Mauritius (with photos).

If you are in the earlier planning stages, you can head on over to read my travel guide for the island before you decide on where to stay in Mauritius.

Disclaimer: the hotels and resorts below hosted the bloggers in question (myself included), in a collaboration with Mauritius Tourism. Still, the bloggers have selected the hotels they chose to recommend.

Where to stay in Mauritius: 12 Hotel Recommendations from travellers

You’ll find that there is a vast selection of where to stay in Mauritius, and whether you decide to stay in the south of the island (where there are lots of great all-inclusive resorts), the East of the island (where they say the most beautiful beaches are), or in the West (where there are several popular hotels, and you’ll find a more ‘hub-like’ atmosphere), you’ll find the perfect place to stay in this list of hotels in Mauritius. Just keep scrolling (or use the handy table of contents above).

As mentioned, these are all recommendations from fellow travel bloggers who have all visited Mauritius, and where possible, I have linked to their individual reviews of each hotel. This is perfect for those of you who are unsure of where to stay on the island, as you can read in-depth reviews of the resorts and hotels you are considering.

I have split the hotels into categories according to their location on the island, so you’ll find hotels in the north of Mauritius together, Mauritius West Coast hotels together, hotels in the south of the island together, and so on.

Hotels in the north of Mauritius

The north of Mauritius is a beautiful part of the island, with the popular Grand Baie Beach being a hub for many hotels and resorts. Pereybere Beach is just a short trip from Grand Baie, and there are some beautiful places to stay there too. Getting between the two beaches is often done by boat, as this is a lot quicker than driving (the Grand Baie Beach is literally a bay, so travelling by boat you simply have to cross the bay).

Ocean Beauty, Pereybere Beach

If you’re looking for a holiday in Mauritius different from the resort life, but are still searching for beautiful beaches and luxury comfort, then this boutique hotel is definitely your choice of where to stay in Mauritius!

Ocean Beauty is located right on the beach of Pointe d’Azur, close to Pereybere Beach, Grand Baie. There are only a few rooms in the hotel, some of them with an incredible view of the private beach area and with a jacuzzi, an outdoor pool surrounded by lush vegetation and colourful birds. This gives you the perfect feeling to be in a little private paradise.

The hotel has no restaurant service, and this is perfect for the one who wants to enjoy real Mauritian life and have the chance to taste local food and restaurants. Still, you won’t forget your breakfast at Ocean Beauty; delicious continental food served on the patio just a few meters from the ocean with no one around you apart from singing birds. It is simply charming!

Ocean Villas, Grand Baie

Ocean Villas, surprisingly enough, has the same owner as Ocean Beauty (mentioned above). This boutique hotel is a little bigger and has a restaurant and several pool areas. They also offer a beautiful private beach where you can spend all day relaxing (you know I did, white wine in hand). Out of all the places to stay in Mauritius, this is definitely my recommendation.

The spa at Ocean Villas is small but offers great service and quite the selection of treatments. Don’t miss lunch by the beach, looking over the beautiful waters of Grand Baie! After the 12-hour flight to Mauritius, I was also really happy to find that the beds were not only huge, but incredibly comfortable as well, and I truly slept like a princess.

The Ravenala Attitude Hotel (north-west)

On my recent trip to Mauritius, I stayed at three different hotels; The Ravenala Attitude was my absolute favourite. This 4-star resort on the west coast of Mauritius has everything you could wish for: beautiful location, nice accommodation, and an incredible range of activities. All that at a very reasonable price tag, compared to most other similar hotels in Mauritius.

The all-in formula allows you to truly enjoy your vacation without having to worry about the budget. From a big selection of restaurants, drinks à volonté, to kids clubs and all kinds of activities… Everything is included. If you’re looking for an affordable luxury vacation in Mauritius, check it out!

LUX* Grand Gaube

The 5-star LUX Grand Gaube is one of 3 LUX* resorts in Mauritius – you could call it the retro-chic cousin in the North. My stay in one of the deluxe double rooms overlooking a small lagoon was perfectly charming and peaceful without a stuffy or pretentious atmosphere.  Anyone in the mood for a party has that option at the Palm Court restaurant with almost daily music either by a band or the resident DJ, or you can just relax and enjoy the free-flowing restaurants

Considering how large the resort is (186 rooms including 21 suites and 3 private villas), it is spread out enough that you won’t feel crowded or have to rush and reserve that beach chair for the day. That’s probably helped by the fact that there are 2 beachfronts and 2 swimming pools at the resort, with the adults-only area having its own of each.

I especially enjoyed the personal touches like the mobile app by LUX* to keep up with daily activities, make their restaurant reservations or get a feel for the available facilities like the spa and fitness centre.

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, Trou-aux-Biches

The first thing I noticed once I stepped out of my private pool villa was the color of the ocean.

The water is so clearly blue and the sand so white that even hurts your eyes. The resort is right on the beach…you wake up and you treat yourself with a wonderful beach sunrise.

The rooms and suites are surrounded by a green tropical garden that makes you feel in deep contact with nature.

If you are a food lover, you will find here a great choise of different tastes: from the local food to international cuisine in the different restaurants of the resort. You can even dine on the beach for a special occasion!

And if you want to experience Mauritius’ traditions and folklore, you could enjoy a typical sega dance performance at the piano bar.

There you have a quick list of hotels in the north of Mauritius for you to choose from when considering where to stay in Mauritius. If you are curious about some of the other places on the island, keep reading!

Mauritius West Coast Hotels

This list of hotels in Mauritius is moving on to the West Coast of the island! You’ll find that there are some great Mauritius West Coast hotels to choose from, especially because several of these are located in hubs such as Flic-en-Flac, where you’ll find several places to stay and things to do. This beautiful beach especially has become a favoured location for resorts and hotels, with shops and restaurants popping up along the beach.

Sugar Beach, Flic-en-Flac

Located in Flic-en-Flac on the western coast of Mauritius, the Sugar Beach Resort is an ideal place for all kind of holidays to Mauritius.

In front of one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, the hotel has 258 rooms and suites which come with a sea view. The property is so beautiful. I really like the wide garden full of palms and the main pool area with a really cool design.

The hotel has 3 restaurants so if you are a foodie like me you should be happy to try each one of them. Mon Plaisir is the main buffet restaurant with themed dinners each day. If you like Mediterranean food, go to The Citronella’s Café located in front of the beach, the food is amazing!

You will also enjoy the first Buddha Bar of Mauritius, perfectly located for sunset.

Club Med La Plantation d’Albion, Albion

The resort on the west coast of Mauritius feels like an exclusive hide-away on the beach that is protected by coral reefs. One experience that really stuck with me is their trapeze lessons, which are included in the stay. Snorkelling, kayaking, tennis – yes, we’ve all heard of those. But swinging on a trapeze? After a short introduction, I found myself up in the air doing things I never thought I’d be able to do. After a few turns, we even did a little stunt where I found myself flying through the air. So just in case the amazing beaches, the delicious food and the welcoming people aren’t enough for a trip to the island – this might just be the reason to go all you circus-lovers out there!

The Address Boutique Hotel, Port Chambly

The Address Boutique Hotel is a small boutique hotel in Mauritius with 42 rooms, in a surrounding of semester villas in an Italian style. The view is a nice one, the staff is very friendly and the rooms tidy and spacious. There is a well-equipped gym on the ground floor of this Mauritius West Coast hotel, a spa and two different restaurants to choose from (Japanese vs Mediterranean style) – as well as a sun deck with a smaller pool. The hotel is a bit isolated (7-8 km outside of Port Louis), and therefore well suitable for a business trip or vacationers who want to relax in a quiet area.

There you have some great Mauritius west coast hotels to choose from, all with different amenities and budgets. So if you want to stay on the west coast, one of those is a safe bet. If you are still searching for where to stay in Mauritius, keep reading!

East Mauritius Hotels

They say that it is in the east of Mauritius you can find the most beautiful beaches on the island. This is saying a lot, because from what I noticed, all of Mauritius has absolutely stunning beaches. So, if you are interested in staying in one of the beautiful all-inclusive resorts of Mauritius, with easy access to some of the most breathtaking beaches on the island, this is the list of hotels in Mauritius for you.

Constance Prince Maurice

We strongly recommend the Constance Prince Maurice if you are wondering where to stay in Mauritius. Not only are the rooms stunning and the location beautiful, but it’s also the treatment reserved for guests that is amazing. Everything is taken care of and you really feel like a VIP: every evening, the staff leaves a present for you in the room and they really deliver when it comes to customer service.

Another amazing thing at this hotel is the food: The Constance Prince Maurice is famous for its culinary offer and we couldn’t be happier there. We had dinner at the traditional Archipel and at the famous Barachois, the floating restaurant, which is something we highly recommend. And, last but not least: the resort is quiet so if you want to relax you certainly won’t have any problems.

The Four Seasons Resort at Anahita

5-Star luxury resort Four Seasons at Anahita offers different types of villas, either with a beach pool, mangrove pool or garden pool and with plenty of room options to accommodate each type of traveller. Our garden pool villa had 4 bedrooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen with a fully stocked fridge and outdoor seating area in front of the private pool!

You’re also not short on dining options at this resort. You can opt for buffet-style French dishes and á la carte options at the Beau Champ Restaurant for breakfast (or just have it delivered to your villa), a beach lunch at Bambou restaurant and Italian delicacies at Aquapazza restaurant for dinner. At night, enjoy a cocktail at the O-Bar while enjoying the sunset.

Whether you’d like to relax at the spa with an over-water treatment or yoga/reiki session, get hands-on at one of the regular cooking classes, or get even more active at one of the complimentary sports activities (pretty much anything from several outdoor pools, a golf course, fitness center and a wide range of water sports), you are sure to never get bored during your stay.

And if that’s not enough, take the complimentary speedboat to the privately owned island of Ile aux Cerfs, where an entire beach is reserved just for Four Seasons guests. Here you can swim, sunbathe or have a drink and a bite to eat at the Beach Bar and Grill, all in an absolute stunning secluded location.

Hotels in the south of Mauritius

The south of Mauritius boasts a beautiful and dramatic coastline, rugged cliffs dropping into the sea, beautiful viewpoints and some pretty spectacular natural phenomenons (such as the underwater waterfall that has become so well-known on Instagram). If you need a few hints on what to do for your trip, head this way to read my list of fun activities in Mauritius. Kazalala Hosted B&B, Bel Ombre

Alala is a term casually used in Mauritian Creole to denote reassurance, affirmation. What does it affirm when used as a suffix to Kazalala? That you have arrived in a home away from home.

Housed within the Heritage Villa enclosure at the southern tip of the island, Kazalala is located just a stone’s throw away from Heritage Telfair, Chateau Ombre and the golf course. The sea is just a 5-minute walk, so if you want to be close to the ocean, you’ll know where to stay in Mauritius.

Kazalala will not dazzle your eyes in the first look with unattainable luxury. Instead, you will feel an amicable acquaintance everywhere. It is the classic quaint little villa that truly embodies simplicity of local life of Mauritius. There are four houses. Blue, red, yellow and green, representing the colours of the Mauritian flag. The window panes are white. Clean upholstery ensures coveted privacy. There is a common area in each villa where you can rustle up a quick lunch as well. Portable cold water in glass bottles is kept in the fridge. The room has a locker, air conditioning and a comfortable bed. A small pool awaits you outside.

But it is not just another usual BnB. Veronique, the “host” (because Kazalala does not believe in managers) will guide you to your room. She is a university student in the day time and former Miss Mauritius. Her smile was enamouring, her company was enchanting. For me, falling in love with Kazalala was easy because of Veronique and her bright smile!

Every responsible seasoned traveller has raved about Kazalala for its simplistic take on hospitality. Everything is available yet there is a keen focus on not wasting a resource. The decor makes the best use of locally available cane and coconut ropes, and uses green plants to beautify the premises. The BnB also donates part of its revenue for impoverished children working at a factory close-by and takes responsibility to impart education for a handful of few.

The Dinarobin Beachcomber Resort

The Dinarobin Beachcomber is a beautiful five-star suite resort located in Southwestern Mauritius, at the foot of the Le Morne mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Facing an impressive turquoise lagoon, this complex is one of the ideal resorts that I recommend you book in Mauritius due to its incredible location, beautiful and spacious rooms, an excellent spa, good buffet and wonderful service from staff.

What I loved among all things, is its direct access to the beach with its crystalline waters and white sand surrounded by dream palm trees that helped me relax at all times. Each of the villas or has a swimming pool very close, with tennis courts and a golf course. Each morning and evening I was able to enjoy the buffet food service with a wide variety of local and international dishes, which makes it possible for you to choose and eat whatever you want. I can’t forget the staff who were always willing to help. solve doubts and assist with a kind smile. In case you feel peckish at noon, the hotel’s La Plage restaurant is ideal for lunch by the sea. Also, for the nights there is a flirtatious bar with live music, where we enjoyed several fun evenings.
