If I say Dubai and the Palm, it is highly likely that you picture the Atlantis. This majestic hotel stands tall at the end of the man-made island, and is quite a sight as you approach it on the island Monorail. Atlantis, the Palm opened in 2008, and boasts magnificent views of the Dubai Skyline, shops and restaurants, and Aquarium in the style of the Lost World of Atlantis, and most importantly – the Aquaventure Water Park!
We booked our tickets just the evening before, and headed straight out the next morning – GoPro in hand! Our tickets included the Lost Chambers Aquarium in addition to the water park, and at the end of the day we had dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, followed by a Bellini (or two) at Nobu.
Getting that GoPro is still my favourite purchase of 2015, and bringing it on the rides was hilarious! We had so much fun with it, and ended up with some great photos!
Our favourite part of the Aquaventure was definitely the Lazy River – if you can even call it that! Around every bend there was a rapid or a flat escalator taking us to another level, and the whole thing was a proper maze. I don’t think we ever made it all the way around, but we had so much fun either way! The photo above is from the ‘Lazy’ River, if you can believe it!
More Lazy River photos, all though in all fairness – they call it the The Rapids, which is far more appropriate for it.
We also spend some time on the hotel beach, swimming and playing around in the water – and also trying to get some good shots of the Dubai Skyline and the Burj Al-Arab in the background. I’ll save those photos for another day, if you’re lucky.
All in all, we had an amazing day playing around the Atlantis Aquaventure, and it is something I would recommend to any visitor of Dubai!
